The question now for further development of the internet is how to organize all the data and making sure that content is organized well and how we can put the most amount of relevant data into each source.

YouTube announced the purchase of FFLICK on its blog. “ “the fflick team will help us build features to connect you with the great videos talked about all over the web, and surface the best of those conversations for you to participate in,” according to Shiva Rajaraman, the YouTube group product manager who wrote the post.”

Google is seeking to make YouTube videos even more interactive and adding more and more content which will engage users more and possibly have an effect in the SERPs.

If you haven’t figured out yet how valuable Youtube is for online marketing, you must live under a rock. In its 5 year anniversary, Google announced it gets 2 billion views a day, how would you not take advantage of this insane channel of marketing?

Google released a great new tool which you can find here: http://www.google.com/videotargeting

You can target individual videos that exactly target your niche. I attended Googles webinar to display what this powerful tool can do and they gave a great case study that really showed how powerful this can be. It was a campaign for American Apparels dog clothing. What did they do? They targeted videos that had large volume of views and bid on that advertising placement. Their cost was about .15 cents per click and had some really good ROI.

So, let’s say you sell mens underwear and you are wondering how you can use this tool. Simply go to the video link above (the tool Google provides) and search for anything that can relate to mens underwear such as: Men models, great workout, anything that can relate to men and looking good? You have to get creative, as always, that’s how you’ll make the campaign successful.

“A handful of companies are betting that with high-definition TVs and broadband proliferating, the time is right to bring video conferencing to the living room.

Cisco Systems, Panasonic, LG, Skype and other companies used the Consumer Electronics Show this week to show off their vision for video calls using an HD television. The companies are poised to take what was primarily a PC experience to a more comfortable environment for communication.

It also represents the further maturation of the TV beyond a passive display for broadcasting and video content. With Internet connectivity coming to the TV directly or through other devices, the living room display is taking on new Internet apps and giving consumers much more interactivity.”

These changes are SURE to change how we communicate in our private lives or business wise, even how we will communicate to do certain transactions. 2010 is sure to bring a lot more video players into the game as the web evolves and mobile and TV become a much larger platform for the web.

I can’t stress this enough but making video part of your online marketing strategy is, I believe, an essential factor in your success. Think about YouTube for a minute. The amount of daily searches and videos watched is just incredible, not counting the other many video sharing websites that out there.

Video really became an essential part when Google introduced universal search to their search technology and videos began to rank, and rank well. That is why it’s so important as an SEO strategy to make sure your videos all have the right titles, tags, etc. MAKE THEM RANK. GET TRAFFIC. GET EXPOSURE.

Like I said in the beginning, just take a look at YouTubes traffic and then you can figure other traffic video sources of video sharing websites that can generate traffic to your video.

“Fully 62% of adult internet users have watched online video on a video-sharing website, a figure that has nearly doubled from 33% in 2006, according to a research report (pdf) from the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life project, which also found that 19% of online adults use video-sharing sites on a typical day (compared with 8% in 2006).

The April 2009 survey found that video watching among young adults is near-universal, with nine in 10 (89%) internet users ages 18-29 now saying they view content on video-sharing sites (up from 72% in 2008), and 36% do so on a typical day.”

Let’s take a quick example. Let’s say you repair XBOX 360s for a living and you want more exposure. Look at this video in YouTube when you type in Xbox 360 repair.

Its got 317,719 views and over 560 comments. Now, I haven’t watched it but this alone can be a great source for branding OR, you can even edit the video possibly and try to charge for advertising if you can generate a good amount of daily views!

Video has been a hot trend and great way of marketing online for a while now, obviously since the explosion of YouTube where individuals, small companies as well as large companies have had the chance to promote themselves, product, service, or just upload about anything they wanted for some exposure.

Since universal search has come into play in the SERPs, it has also become a vital part of your online marketing efforts. Social media sites have given many the opportunity to go viral fairly quickly if you have some real good, informative, or basically anything that will “catch on” content.

I won’t write a long post, but if you have a video, it’s time to try and submit it to as many places as you can.

Here is a list of video submission sites you may want to upload your video to:

It is one of the video’s that you think only the discovery channel or national geographic would have, but that is the beauty of video online. Anyone can capture amazing things as the world has for years, but now it is so simple to make it seen by literally millions of people.

If you’re an animal lover like myself, you may want to close your eyes while watching this video but at the same time, appreciate the nature of it. This is mother nature at its best.

YouTube is the main source of video distribution and video plays on the net. You can find anything from home-made clips to scenes from movies, news, and basically anything you can think of to watch is on YouTube.

The video space is part of what is social media because of its interaction but also because many videos and as technology advances and gets easier to use, more and more people will make video for the web. But what happens when you go to YouTube? YouTube is basically the largest search engine for video on the web so you have to search for what you are looking for. Like many search engines that are coming out as well as many social networks, we will begin to see the video space be segment by category.

Let me give you an example. GodTube, reported by ComScore, was named the fastest growing U.S. website in its first month of launch. GodTube, as you can guess by the name is a video site to watch videos on religion. What a great idea to segment this space out (the religious space) to have its own site.

In 2008 and into 2009, we will see video sites segment into comedy, sports, politics, and broken down into even more targeted specific social issues, etc.

These video segmentation sites will also bring about good advertising opportunities for advertisers to target specific demographics as is being done with Facebook which we will also begin to see more of a segmentation of social media network sites through 2008. MyChurch.org is considered the Myspace for christian individuals. We have seen this segmentation in the dating space with sites such as JDate.com, which was made for jewish singles. Also, we have seen the social network space segment itself into the pet space with Dogster.com, Catster.com, and a few others.

You may look at this clip and think…”this guy is an idiot”…well MAYBE NOT. As dumb and ridiculous as this video may seem, it has been a genius marketing tactic by this guy. He had videos prior to this and this just took him all the way to the top with MILLIONS of YouTube views and appearances and publicity on late night shows like Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel.

Now, If he knew a bit about online marketing, this guy could have made thousands of dollars over night with this video through ads, etc. I may just start thinking of crazy videos to put up on YouTube and chart my results here.

As a marketer, of course, I love commercials…good ones that is.

Nike released thier new commercial this weekend in thier “leave nothing” campaign. I have to say, this commercial is insane! If you get a chance, watch it in HD somewhere. They (Michael Mann) did a great job at actually taking us inside the field. Maybe a similar concept has been done before, but this commercial takes it to another level.

I can’t stress enough how important video is becoming to online marketing campaigns. I’ve been blogging a bit on video, especially after the Future of Online Advertising conference, which showed the tools and resources which will come out to make online video a more powerful advertising tool than it is now.

A report by the Online Publishers Association, shows online video ads are leading to sales. The world is adapting and understanding Web 2.0, which video is becoming one of its most powerful components.

OPA reports, “The study shows the value of video ads on quality content sites, finding that consumers are more likely to act on ads they see on media sites, versus portals or user-generated content (UGC) sites. Over one-third of consumers on magazine (38%), newspaper (37%), and online-only news (35%) sites say they have searched for more information after watching a video ad, while about one-quarter did so after watching an ad on a portal (27%) or UGC (24%) site. About one-quarter of consumers on magazine (29%) and online-only news (26%) sites went into a store to check out a product after viewing a video ad, while only 17% on portal sites and 14% on UGC sites did so. About one-in-five consumers on local broadcast TV (21%), national broadcast TV (19%) and cable TV (19%) sites requested more information after viewing a video ad, while only 16% on portal and 14% on UGC sites did so.”

Online video is becoming an incredible branding tool online through the web. Video editing software such as Windows Movie Maker or Apple’s movie editing software has made it easy for a business to make a decent video commercial to promote or sale a product.

At the Future of Online Advertising convention in New York last week, a commercial was shown to the attendees to show the power in YouTube of not only delivering traffic, but branding as well.

There will be a growing number of opportunities of marketers in the online video space as the net and its technology evolves, and thats really one place we’re headed now, besides the virtual online world.

You might have already seen this, but those of you who haven’t, I thought this was REALLY cool. This is a commercial called, “Dove Evolution”, a 75-second viral film created by Ogilvy & Mather, Toronto, was uploaded to YouTube on Oct. 6, 2006. Since than, it has been played more than 4 million times, got TV and Print media exposure, one of the most blogged about videos and more links than you can imagine. This was a campaign for real beauty for women and only cost about $50k to make! 4 million views and for $50k…good tradeoff?

MarketingVox stated, “The numbers that will definitely grab advertisers’ attention is that a 30-second spot for the 2006 Super Bowl cost $2.5 million, but there was no cost for Dove to upload “Evolution” to YouTube”

If theres one guy I admire, It’s Mark Cuban. Owner of the Dallas Mavericks, Co-Founder of HDNet. In 1995 Cuban founded Audionet, which boradcasted live games and events over the internet. Yahoo! aquired Cuban’s company giving him $5.04 BILLION in stock. Cuban was also an investor in Weblogs Inc., which was aquired by AOL.

To me, this guy is one of those people that can not only see the future, but helps build it. His vision is one many in Business pay attention to because he’s got a good proven track record. His reputation proceeds him as a “bad-boy” as owner of his NBA team, the Dallas Mavericks. When it comes down to business, Cuban is one in a million.

Cuban spoke at the Congressional Future Of Video Hearing. Thought everyone should give it a listen…see what you think.

Cuban gets a little technical with the argument on current bandwidth situations. He also talks about the evolvement of the internet becoming web 2.0 mentioing Myspace, Facebook, Digg, etc, “not technological breakthroughs, advanced programming”.
