The top 10 US Social network and blog site rankings have been reported by Nielson, reports MarketingCharts.
Last week, Myspace made an announcement about a new advertising platform for advertisers which didn’t really get too much buzz…I wonder why? Facebook is IT right now with all its buzz but Myspace still ranks as the most used and visited U.S. social site with more then 58.8 million unique visitors in the month of October…not counting repeat users! You’re not marketing on Myspace? What are you waiting for?

Surprisingly to me, or maybe not, since it is a Google product, Blogger remains at the top of the rankings for blogs with 34.1 million visitors. I remember the first blog I ever created was actually through Blogger, but really, it’s not that great…they could do a much better job…come on…it’s Google.

Though Myspace was the most visited social site, rankings are still very positive for Facebook with an increase in visitors to 19.5 million. This new statistic shows a positive growth of 125% from last October (2006)

I've been a fan of exploring the misspelled online marketing scene, I know Kris Jones of Pepperjam has touched on this quite a bit as well with regards to PPC but there is NOTHING better than getting a small misspelled domain on a site that is HUGE.
I've touched on this in my post, "YouTube vs. uTube -$1,000 Per Day Similarity" That was actually unintentional but if you are lucky enough to get a great misspelled domain, you are going to make serious cash.
My latest finding, OOGLE.com. WOW, right? Yup, someone actually owns that and if you want to find out who so I don't make it public here, just go to WhoIs.net and you'll see for yourself, it's not Google. So, what did they do to monetize this domain? Couldn't be easier…a blank page that looks exactly like Google, throw up a search box (adsense), and a vertical adsense link bar, and its off to the bank (chi-ching.)
Domain name = $9.00
Time of Site Design: 2 Minutes or Less.
Oogle: 19,726 search per month (approx.)
Oogle.com: 33,296 search per month (approx.)

That's just in searches, but how many people enter Google without a G in the URL box, believe me, A LOT.

Anderson Analytics has just released a research report which names the top 10 most visited sites by college students by gender. I found it really interesting and surprising at the same time…mostly by the websites college women are going to.

We all know Facebook is just the biggest player in the social media space and at this point, basically topped Myspace for the social media crown. Compete.com thinks differently by looking at these stats:

So quick! Cover your eyes and try to guess the top 10 websites visited by college men and college women.
Here it goes:

First 4 things I noted:
1- Girls love social sites. (but guys do also)
2- PerezHilton is much bigger than I thought.
3- Not one social site like DIGG was in the women section…something to consider.
4- Addictinggames.com? That's not even on the mens section…interesting.
