12 Companies that Spy on Your PC

Written by Pablo Palatnik on June 4, 2008

What is Spyware? For those of you who are unaware, according to wikipidia, “the functions of spyware extend well beyond simple monitoring. Spyware programs can collect various types of personal information, such as Internet surfing habit, sites that have been visited, but can also interfere with user control of the computer in other ways, such as installing additional software, redirecting Web browser activity, accessing websites blindly that will cause more harmful viruses, or diverting advertising revenue to a third party. Spyware can even change computer settings, resulting in slow connection speeds, different home pages, and loss of Internet or other programs. In an attempt to increase the understanding of spyware, a more formal classification of its included software types is captured under the term privacy-invasive software.”

Here is a list of 12 companies that spy on your PC by installing spyware on your computer:

Adrevolver
Advertising.com
BlueStreak
CasaleMedia
DirectTrack
DoubleClick
FastClick
MediaPlex
StatCounter
TagaSaurus
TraderDoubler
Zedo

You can remove Spyware by donwloading anti-spyware software. I personally use Spybot (Search and Destroy) to find out what my computer has and remove it. Doesn’t always work, but it does for the most part (this is not a paid advertisement!) It’s free to download and there are many more out there to download.

3am Phone Call In the White House…Which Candidate Will Pick Up the Phone?

Written by Pablo Palatnik on April 8, 2008

There is so MUCH talk about these commercials that as dumb as I think they are (and ridiculous) I guess they make good advertising and marketing for each candidate, or bad actually.

So, these commercials are based around an important phone call coming in at 3am when it’s “crunch time” and who would be best qualified to take that call as commander in chief. Hillary Clinton started this campaign and as dumb as I think it is, it’s pretty successful because not only did the media talk about it for days, but other candidates jumped on board to replicate the commercial in their own way.

Here is Mine:

SEOs and Affiliate Marketers are Hustlers

Written by Pablo Palatnik on March 20, 2008

So, I think for the most part, as far as keynote speakers go, Jason Calacanis, CEO of Mahalo, was by far the most interesting. We can talk about search, technology, etc all we want but like you and almost everyone, I like to be inspired, by someone or something.

We all like underdog stories and Jason said he came from a very modest background. “Not a rich kid” at all, but someone who worked his whole life hard to get to where he is today.

The World is Yours

The keynote was very interesting but what struck me the most is his understanding of the SEO and culture which I believe to be people who are HUSTLERS, in the good sense. Always finding Affiliate Marketing new ways to make money or monetize their sites, or looking for the next thing to make money with.

So, with that said, keep husltin’ until something sticks for you. Something is bound too, right?
