Link Graph Vs. Social Graph- A Look Inside The Future of Google Search

Rand had a great White board Friday on SEOmoz.org. With search and social becoming one in search, search results are impacting everyone, from the end-user to the companies who try to rank for certain keywords and depend on SEO for the success of their business, and most of us, at least I’m guessing most who read PalatnikFactor.com, do depend greatly on SEO, or atleast some.
As search includes more and more of the social graph into its algo, big shifts will come into play in the SERPs. Nevertheless, the link graph, in my opinion will still dominate algo signals for ranking purposes BUT the social graph can very well dominate the first top results or maybe we even see Google display their results differently in the coming years to separate the social aspect of search, or maybe they are just trying to integrate as best as possible and becoming very much part of universal search as we have seen in 2009 real-time search integrated into Google via Twitter Tweets. The Google index is changing and you have to keep each factor in mind.
