The Most Effective Online Marketing Strategies of 2009
December 19, 2009 by Pablo Palatnik
eMarketer had a report during July 2009 which probably and most likely, still holds true today and it MAY change in 2010. The report shows a study by Forbes on the most effective online marketing strategies by marketers in 2009. “Forty-eight percent of marketers said that search engine optimization (SEO) was the best method for generating conversions online. More than one-half of marketers with budgets over $1 million agreed. ”

The article goes on to say, "The next-most-effective conversion tactic for smaller marketers was e-mail and e-newsletters, followed by pay-per-click and search ads, behavioral targeting and page sponsorships.
For larger marketers, the list of effective online tactics was nearly the same, except search and e-mail were flipped. Pay-per-impression ads were also more effective for larger marketers (presumably because they have the funds to experiment in an expensive medium). "
Through much research of my own, SEO and eMail marketing have the best ROI. Pay-Per-Click can have outstanding results but it could also have very disappointing results. The one thing about PPC and many small businesses know this, it has to be managed very well, at least until you can get a great rhythm going.
