NHL Chicago BlackHawks Engage Using Twitter

If you think only small to medium size businesses are using Twitter as a social media tool to connect using customers, etc, THINK AGAIN. The latest winner of a Mashable award went to the Chicago BlackHawks, an NHL hockey team which is using Twitter as a tool to connect and engage with fans to update them on everything, even in-game stats, etc.
Incredible how Twitter is changing the way brands, companies, etc are communicating through the web in real-time. You can see how this phenomenon is almost as useful as when the search engines came out with search. This is yet another way for people all over the world to search for info on what they want, such as a brand. As reported by the Chicago Blackhawks website, “The Chicago Blackhawks have been chosen as the “Best Brand Use of Twitter” in the Third Annual Mashable Open Web Awards, an international online voting competition that covers major innovations in web technology and achievements in social media.
“The Chicago Blackhawks are thrilled to be recognized in Mashable’s Open Web Awards, an honor we couldn’t have won without the amazing support of Blackhawks fans and our devoted followers on Twitter,” said Blackhawks Director of New Media and Publications Adam Kempenaar. “Their passion drives our social media efforts, as we continue to look for fun, innovative ways to interact with our fans and encourage them to embrace our brand.”
