Using the Google Keyword Tool for Quick Pay-Per-Click Campaigns and SEO

October 6, 2009 by Pablo Palatnik

The Google Adwords blog today announced an update with the Keyword tool. “This new version of the Keyword Tool combines the functionality of the Keyword Tool and the Search-based Keyword Tool. This means you’ll get keyword ideas based on keywords you enter, your website content, and user searches – all in one place. Also new is the ability to search by any combination of a keyword, website/URL, or category – instead of having to perform each of these searches separately. Additionally, you’ll be able to see all match types for a keyword at the same time to help you compare statistics for each match type. When you’ve got your final keyword list together, you can download a selected keyword, all keyword results in the table, or all keywords (for certain queries).”

While there are many tools out there for keyword research, I still maintain this is one of the better tools out there, if not the best, to give you great ideas on what keywords to use to build a ppc campaign and also can serve as a great tool for SEO purposes to give you ideas what keywords maybe be good to optimize for an an approximate value per click.

You can try the Google Keyword Tool now.

You will be surprised how good this tool can be for ideas and putting a PPC campaign together. On the left hand side, you will see a box that will ask you this questions: How would you like to generate keyword ideas?

It gives you an option to allow you to search by keywords or by website content which you can put the URL and will give you the keywords on that site and then will also go ahead and split them up into ad groups for you with some great keyword ideas. I strongly recommending this tool if this is your first time or a rookie in the PPC game.
