Buy A Child Molestor on Amazon and Bid on Little Boys on eBay: PPC Monopoly.
January 15, 2009 by Pablo Palatnik
When you’re Amazon or eBay, you don’t worry much about search marketing, you just basically bid on ANY keyword to drive traffic.
I guess when you spend MILLIONS of dollars a MONTH with Google, you can basically do what you want because I strongly doubt quality score plays a role in these accounts.
For example if you type in the keyword “little boys” on Google you will find an ad from eBay:

Bid on Little Boys now! <-----------------I

When you type in the keyword "child molestor" on Amazon you will find this ad:

I guess the quality score on these major sites play a small role as the account as a whole must have incredible CTRs or maybe even low for that matter. Who knows? Amazon and eBay spend a good amount of money. According to SpyFu, the daily budget for both are as follows:
eBay daily budget: $75,181.19
Amazon daily budget: $24,028.72
I have to say I think both companies spend a lot more than what is indicated.
Let’s look at some data from both these websites on how many keywords they rank for organically, how many they paid for. Also, note the decline in budget over time as both companies have declined their search budget. (All Data Provided by SpyFu)

Pablo – (Dare I ask) – How did you figure out that “Little Boys” brings up the ebay advertisement?
Yes, I was looking to shop for little boys on eBay, it’s what I do.
ahha- I just had a feeling one of those two would bring up an ad, and I was right =).
I actually bought one and he now moderates all my comments.
