Addicted to Online Marketing – A New Year, Just A Personal Note.

January 8, 2009 by Pablo Palatnik

I dont know why I chose the title, I just did. This morning I woke up and I thought to myself, I love what I do, thank the lord! This is more of a personal blog post than anything else. It seems too long ago I wrote a post and I wish I had more time to dedicate to my blog and thats one of my resolutions for 2009.

I just got back from a vacation to Buenos Aires I took after a year of hard work. I have to say 2008 was a very good year for me and I think for the industry as well even though we are facing probably the worse economic times any of us has ever witnessed.

There are a few things I will try to accomplish this year and that will start by trying to prioritize and organizing my time better. There are so many things I’d like to do and so little time managing what I have going already. I know I won’t steer away from anything online because thats what I know best and have learned a great deal this past year and very excited for what 2009 has to bring.

In the middle of 2008 I made a transition from lead generation to e-commerce and that has been very successful for me. I always loved to sell things online. My love for that actually started YEARS ago when I was a kid and I would put anything on eBay because when that items 0 in red turned to bids to green, it was MY adrenaline rush, thats when I knew I had found what I wanted to do, and years later, here I am making a good living doing what I still love to do in different ways as well.

As the economy still faces hardships, Ive been a bit tuned out of the news and have just been focused on the task and business at hand and pushing forward no matter what, I hope you do the same. Stay positive and hopefully 2009 will be an even better year.

    Hi Pablo,

Happy new year! Let the economic changes be a challenge to all of us. Challenges are fun and adrenaline rushes are the best!
I have probably missed this, but it may be interesting to write about what you actually do for a living?
I very much enjoyed reading your blog and will certainly do so in 2009.

    Thanks!
    Sam

    Hi Sam,

Thank you for your comment and I always look forward to challenges, I think most everything I do starts with a challenge, mostly on myself and the task at hand.

I handle some PPC accounts for some clients which is what I would say my strength in online marketing as well as handle my own e-commerce company which did a little under 1 millon dollars in sales in 2008. Hopefully we’ll see where this year takes us and just hoping for the best. I wish you a very healthy and successful new year!

Pablo – I too feel like I’m “living the dream”. I run an online business where I get to work my own hours and pursue very interesting subjects. Plus, I’m doubly lucky in that I’m the domains of education and technology and kids, which I care about. Lastly, I have great colleagues to work with.

    @ Learning Fun-

That’s great. I think we can all be successful if we work with things we love and care about, I think thats where it starts.

This video is really fun and motivating about what we do: http://palatnikfactor.com/2008/09/30/if-you-dont-like-online-marketing-quit/
