Search Budget Declines for Credit Card Giants
December 4, 2008 by Pablo Palatnik
We all know the credit card companies are facing difficult times (as almost every business is) due to the economic climate we are facing. Credit companies are issuing less and less credit since less and less people are able to pay their bills, but nevertheless, its still one of the largest industries here in the U.S. but we can see budgets declining in their search efforts.
Let’s take a look at two big advertisers in the market and where they are at with their budgets which will include AmericanExpress.com, and Capitalone.com.
AmericanExpress.com Budget (estimated):

CapitalOne.com Budget (estimated):

Search budgets were up overall in 2008 it seems and it would make sense as the economy is bad and people lose jobs, more people depend on credit cards. As we head deeper in recession, credit card companies are no longer so linient and eager to lend to just anyone and of course, not doing so well financially so budgets are decreasing in Oct. 08′, thats the latest data that is available for now.
We will see how these credit card companies budget their search in November and December given the holidays call for more credit card spend and sign-ups since more and more people will depend and want credit cards to shop.
There seems to be no serious impact on traffic to these websites but I suspect we will see an increase in traffic for November and/or December.
