Your Blog is a Tweet Away from More Traffic and Subscribers

Written by Pablo Palatnik on September 17, 2008

I found the most important reason to attend industry conferences is to network with the people who are in it and make it what it is, and most of all, people who other people follow online.

I’ll give you an example of this. Yesterday I wrote a blog post titled, “When it is Time to Redsign Your Blog?” I was reading ProBlogger, a great blog for bloggers by bloggers about blogging. Problogger is a blog from Darren Rowse, someone whom I met at the Elite Retreat in San Francisco last April.

I hit Darren up and asked him if he could share the story with his readers or basically anything he could to to promote the post would be cool with me, I don’t expect much when I ask people for favors. Anyhow, I got an email from Darren this morning telling me he tweeted my post, shorts and simple. Sure enough, checking my analytics, I had a lot more traffic and had a good amount coming from Twitter.

Coming from an authoritative blogging source like Darren to recommend my blog post to his list of followers gives me authority as well and can increase my readership from a single tweet.

So, if you have something you want to promote such as a post, service, product, etc…Hit up your fellow industry friends and ask how you can help them, as long as they know you are there to help them as well.
