PepperJam Network Launch- The Next Generation of Affiliate Marketing
Written by Pablo Palatnik on January 15, 2008
OK, if you’re in the search marketing or affiliate space, this is probably the 100th blog post you’ve seen announcing the launch of the PepperJam Affiliate Network.
Why so much attention? It starts from the top with CEO Kris Jones. Kris has been an industry figure not only defining and shaping the industry in some ways but also being able to build the fastest growing search marketing agency in the U.S., an Inc. 500 company. Pepperjam has become a household name and has now expanded to becoming a CPA network.
I was invited to do BETA testing and I had to say, it will be one of the coolest interfaces you’ve ever seen. Also, what makes the Pepperjam network unique is its transparency which is a big issue and a concern for affiliates and I think it has been for sometime in the industry.

Here are some highlights and reasons you should join the PepperJam Network:
- Pepperjam Network addresses two of the most significant shortcomings found on other existing affiliate networks: (1) poor, unreliable communication tools and (2) lack of affiliate transparency.
With Pepperjam Network, affiliates and advertisers can communicate in real-time via Pepperjam Chatâ„¢, thereby providing a reliable communication system to build stronger, more profitable partnerships.
Pepperjam Network provides advertisers with an unprecedented measure of affiliate transparency, which helps to establish trust, protect brand integrity, and lays the groundwork for open, long-term, profitable relationships.
- Pepperjam Network uses Web 2.0 technology to provide affiliates and advertisers with an easy-to-use, clean interface.
- Pepperjam Network offers industry leading SID-level tracking and reporting (great for sophisticated search marketing affiliates)

PageRank Update: To Follow or Not To Follow?
Written by Pablo Palatnik on January 13, 2008
A Pagerank toolbar update was announced last week, this was the first one announced this year since the big update very late last year which scared the bejesus out of everyone buying links.
It may be a coincidence or not, My Pagerank fell from a 3 to a 2 on Saturday. This blog has been around for 8 months now having some good incoming links, never purchasing a link, and following all links.
It was on Friday when for the first time ever, I decided to use ONLY two no-follow links on this blog and that’s both to the footer links which link to the wordpress theme and some web hosting which I could easily remove those links, but I don’t.
What could have caused this demotion in Pagerank? Any pagerank updates on anyones site? It’s doubtful my no-follow, even though taken out, could have caused this but is it a possibility? In my opinion, no…probably not.
Also, one change I have made since about a week ago through the recommendation of Grey was add the ‘continue reading’ option of the blog so the Google bots don’t read my site as having duplicate content in two different URLS (home page and story urls.)

Do What You Love & You’ll Be Successful
Written by Pablo Palatnik on January 10, 2008
OK, this may be a cliché. It sounds like the easiest thing to some while at the same time very hard to achieve. Why? Responsibilities such as a mortgage or family, or just simply no motivation.
Now, I’m sure 90% or more is because there are responsibilities in your life which don’t allow you to do or focus on what you love to do. That’s too bad, but if you make that extra sacrifice (i.e. taking a pay cut to work doing something you enjoy or love) you can pay huge dividends in the long-term.
There is one thing all successful people have in common, ONE major component across the board which led them to great success. THEY LOVE WHAT THEY DO. If you don’t go to work (either for yourself or an employee) motivated and ready to kick ass and take names, you can put success in the backseat for now. Some will be lucky but most won’t.
I’m not the biggest Donald Trump fan, but if there is always one piece of advice he gives, “do what you love.†Some people wake up every morning dreading to go to work…what are you doing? Get active and look for something else.
Be inspired by what you do. Take pride in your work but be humble at the same time. No matter what, success…failures…you can never stop trying.
Some Tips For Success By Dicky Fox (Agent from the movie Jerry McGuire):
-If you don’t love everybody, you can’t sell anybody.
-The key to this business is personal relationships.
-Roll with the punches. Tomorrow is another day.
-I love getting up in the morning. I clap my hands and say, ‘This is gonna be a great day.

SEO Is Bringing Sexy Back
Written by Pablo Palatnik on January 9, 2008
OK, I don’t think SEOs are considered the sexiest people in the planet, maybe, but no. I talk to many business owners and they all say one thing in common. “I want to be #1 in Googleâ€
Get in line. I guess within the past year, even though SEO is still misunderstood by most, many business owners also understand the challenge that is to optimize a website and start ranking for a keyword. It’s not something that takes a few days and it is WORK.
I think throughout the few past years many have claimed SEO and have sold companies on false hopes of ranking and timelines. People who think all it takes is having the right tags on your site to rank have been offering SEO services. Web designers who understand a little bit about SEO have claimed to sell “optimized websites.â€
