SEO Is Bringing Sexy Back

January 9, 2008 by Pablo Palatnik

OK, I don’t think SEOs are considered the sexiest people in the planet, maybe, but no. I talk to many business owners and they all say one thing in common. “I want to be #1 in Google”

Get in line. I guess within the past year, even though SEO is still misunderstood by most, many business owners also understand the challenge that is to optimize a website and start ranking for a keyword. It’s not something that takes a few days and it is WORK.

I think throughout the few past years many have claimed SEO and have sold companies on false hopes of ranking and timelines. People who think all it takes is having the right tags on your site to rank have been offering SEO services. Web designers who understand a little bit about SEO have claimed to sell “optimized websites.”

So why the title to this post? I think if you REALLY know about SEO and you can get the work done, you’re a rockstar and very valuable to these companies. Whether you are hiring an SEO in-house or outsourcing your SEO work/projects, a good SEO that provides results holds great value.

Companies hiring for an all around online marketer will tell you search engine marketing or I’ll call it pay-per-click management isn’t where they are having the most trouble finding good knowledgeable people (although I think a lot also claim to have great PPC knowledge who don’t really have it) but when it comes to SEO, they haven’t found the right person.

Maybe companies hold too much expectation of someone given that competition is so fierce now but that’s what it takes to be a good SEO, provide some results. There is absolutely no guarantees when it comes to optimizing a website, it all comes down to experience and knowledge of the trade and probably most of all, continuing education about algos and other key SEO factors.
