Facebook vs. Myspace Users (A Demographic Report)

If you’re starting to get into the social media marketing aspects of your online marketing campaign and a bit out of the loop, here is a report that may help you.
As an advertiser, or marketer, you’re probably reading about all the buzz with new ad platforms by both Myspace and Facebook. One thing that has been constant in the rule of marketing and will never change and you should always know: KNOW WHERE YOUR TARGET DEMOGRAPHIC HANGS OUT.
Here are stats about Facebook and Myspace that might help you decide where your campaign would work better based on demographic (crucial information about a website)
Let’s look at some of the major and obvious differences presented by these charts:
1) Myspace has an older demographic
2) Facebook has a demographic that reaches people with higher income.
3) Facebook has a higher demographic that is African American and Asian. Myspace has a lot more Hispanic users.
4) More people are addicted to Myspace but Facebook has more regular users.
5) Myspace seems to generate double the traffic.

In short. Myspace is home to ghetto social networkingwhile Facebook (since released for high education only originally) is home to the more high class social networking.
with the popularity of Facebook becoming as big as a networking portal as Myspace, the demographics of both will start to balance out. We’ll see what happens in the next few months as Facebook continues to grow.
