Myspace Users to Deliver Targeted Ads to Visitors

November 5, 2007 by Pablo Palatnik

Reported by MarketingVox, “An ad platform proffered by MySpace will enable companies and individuals to create and serve banner ads to their visitors… Small businesses and individuals can create banner ads with templates provided by MySpace. Those ads can be targeted by audience characteristics.
Advertisers then pay per click.

MySpace has been building its targeting capabilities, breaking users into audience slices based on information they share and on details like blog topics, and what photos they share.”

This news comes after last weeks partnership with Zazzle of allowing bands to sell merchandise on their profile site without actually having the merchandise at hand.

This seems it could have great opportunities for regular users to monetize their profile and a huge way to lure back users into adding friends, etc. Facebook is also now about to unveil an ad platform for users.
