Power 150 marekting blogs and Ad Age

How do you make it on the top 150?
"The Power 150 is a global ranking of the top English-language marketing blogs. Originally launched in January 2007 as a USA-based ranking, the Power 150 expanded worldwide to include all English-language blogs after TechBrew provided the list's automation in March 2007. To calculate each blog’s final ranking in the Power 150, a very simple, multimetric algorithm was used. Final ranking is based on the sum of four unique and mostly objective sources:

Google PageRank (0 to 10) – Google PageRank is a link analysis algorithm that interprets web links and assigns a numerical weighting (0 to 10) to each site. High-quality sites receive a higher PageRank. The Power 150 ranking uses the actual PageRank as part of its algorithm.

Bloglines Subscribers (1 to 20) – Bloglines displays the amount of subscribers each blog has to its feed(s). Subscriber ranges were determined (i.e., more than 20, more than 30, etc.) and each range was assigned a number (1 to 20) that was used as part of the Power 150 algorithm.

Technorati Ranking (1 to 30) – Technorati ranking relates the number of sites pointing to a particular blog. The more link sources referencing your blog, the higher the Technorati ranking. Similar to the Bloglines Subscribers value, Technorati ranking ranges were determines (i.e., top 9,000, top 10,000, top 20,000, etc.) and each range was assigned a number (1 to 30) that was used as part of the Power 150 algorithm.

Todd And Points (1 to 15) – As the only subjective measure in the Power 150 algorithm, 1 to 15 opinion points were assigned to each blog. Todd And values frequent, relevant, creative and high-quality content. The use of audio, video and graphics is also heavily weighted in the Todd And Points."

Michael Vicks Reputation Online Is Destroyed

repmanagement.jpg
I'VE BEEN TOUCHING ALOT on personal online reputation…this blog actually ranks #1 in Google the keyword “important of personal reputation”.

Michael Vick is in the news all the time now with the dog fighting scandal which can really hurt his career, but even worse, his reputation is just going down the drain. Especially for those who are not familiar with Vick and Google or Yahoo his name to learn about him for the first time.

Look at the screen shots of the paid ads which are people are clicking into:

Yahoo (Only first 2 ads, first page is full of negative ads):

Google:

In Google images, in the first line of pictures, there is a very disturbing picture of a pitbull damaged very badly. Also, another picture of two dogs fighting.

Many blogs are also touching on this story and you think they are writing positive things about him? Yeah, I dont think so either.

New Price Is Right Host In Search

Published by Pablo Palatnik under Search Trends

searchtrends.jpg
IT'S FUNNY HOW I always say to watch offline news to look for search trends moreso than even engines sometimes, or actually I’d say offline factors really catalyst good online searches.

New Price Is Right Host

Hotness: Medium

Related searches:
price is right host, campbell brown cnn, dan senor, price is right, amy robach

Looking for some search trends, a very hot topic online that I havent heard in the news yet is who will be the new Price is Right host?

Big news hu? Not bigger than Harry Potter but nevertheless, getting some good attention from searchers. It seems Drew Carey will be the new host of the show.

Seizing Opportunities From Your Websites Analytics

A LOT OF PEOPLE USE THEM, A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T. Personally, I use two types of Analytic programs to manage my stats, and those are Google Analytics and Crazy Egg.

I’ve blogged in the past about Crazy Egg which I think is really essential if you’re placing Adsense, etc on your website. If that’s your case, you can really improve your CTR by seeing where people are clicking with its heat map function and also a confetti function it now offers.

Crazy Egg

The reason I’m writing this blog post today is because sometimes we get so caught up in so many projects, etc. it’s crucial to look at your analytics for data that can really help you capitalize on your website. You may be ranking high for a keyword you don’t know you rank for and getting traffic for it. So what do you do?

I started seeing a trend from my latest post on Harry Potter. I now rank #3 in Google for “who dies at the end of harry potter”…hot long-tail key phrase right now. As you see in the post, I’ve added an affiliate offer in form of a text link [Update: Now Adsense].

I wouldn’t have checked analytics with so much I have going on, but good thing I did.

Harry Potter Dies In The End

I JUST READ THE HARRY POTTER BOOK and He does infact die in the end. Did I spoil it? Just kidding. I DIDN'T READ IT SO THAT IS NOT THE ENDING (I DONT THINK). Watching the news, there really is a tremendous craze for this last book.

I was thinking of a little arbitrage strategy for this and searched for its trend in Google. Maybe purchasing Harry-Potter-Dies.com and run it through the engines & write some content:

harrypotterdies.png

Keyword: does harry potter die (Not One Ad Is Being Served)
Hotness: Mild/Medium

NOTE: I dont know why the Google image doesnt show a number to display what search volume its talking about but Im guessing it's pretty large. Leaks make for big news.

[Update: Thinking to switching the title of this post to "how to get hate mail in the quickest amount of time"]

What’s A Share of Your Blog Worth?

I GET AT LEAST AN IDEA a day of creating a new website/business, etc. obviously, time is very limited and we don’t get to do everything we come up with.

I vividly remember sitting at the Future of Online Advertising in New York about two months ago and coming up with an idea to start a website that measures the cost per share in a blog and the factors that would determine that cost. Basically a stock trade website but instead of buying shares of companies, you purchase shares of blogs.

As I was Googling “PalatnikFactor.com” to see what articles are being re-published online, etc..I came to this link: URLADEX. I guess some people know about this, but a lot of people dont. Thought it was really cool if they only had a better design!

**This website ranks blogs and values them based on Alexa traffic.

PalatnikFactor.com is values at $9 per share! 334 Shares available and the last price change was 2007-07-18 22:45:50.

Some of the blogs/websites I read:

Search Engine Journal- price: $260per share

SeoBook- price: $985 per share

Mashable- price:$1,350 per share

Shoemoney- price:$535 per share

Pronet Advertising- price:$160 per share

Techcrunch- price: $2,350per share

The list can go on……

What’s your blog/site worth?
