The Future of Online Advertising – New York City
June 11, 2007 by Pablo Palatnik
I’m finally back from New York after attending the FOOA conference (Future of Online Advertising). Wow, within the next few years the internet will almost be a whole new world of it’s own much like it is now, but in many different aspects.
It’s very hard to summarize what 20 speakers said in one blog post, so I will not even attempt at doing so. I will be blogging this week on some major issues and topics I thought would interest my readers.
I will tell you some insight on some of the best presentation which were given by Yahoo’s Ron Belanger, “The Future of Search Marketingâ€, Google’s Kim Malone, “Adapting Advertising Models to an Evolving Web Experienceâ€, Electric Sheep’s Joel Greenberg, “Advertising in the Virtual Worldâ€, and Digg’s CEO Jay Adelson, “Ad Potential of Crowd-Generated Media Sites†(I’m a big Digg fan if you haven’t noticed).
If there is one thing as a marketer that I walked out with (but already knowing), AND was the consensus among all speakers is “BE WHERE YOUR AUDIENCE IS.” Basically, don’t make your target crowd/audience search for you, you search for them. Web 2.0 has given us that commodity as marketers to target our crowd based on hobbies, interest, etc through community sites, and all that has become the social media space.
