The Big Idea Delivers The Big…Idea.

The Bid IdeaOne of my favorite shows to watch is The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch on CNBC . As an Internet Marketer, the show that was on this evening (I’m not sure if it was a repeat or not) really caught my attention. It basically featured people who hit it big uploading a video on YouTube or simply made a Myspace profile, uploaded a song, and got nationwide recognition.

Two big things to take note of:
1. Social Media is becoming more main stream and understood by the general population (the power of). Not entirely, but much more than it was months ago.
2. The one most of us already know who do this day in and day out, the possibilities of exposure through social media is tremendous.

One example on the show was my personal favorite, the Diet Coke + Mentos experiment that has generated huge buzz. It already has 1,968,432 views on YouTube. Diet Coke and Mentos have already approached these guys for endorsement deals and I believe generated 35k so far of other sources from this clip.

Kris Jones of PepperJam has also demonstrated the power of YouTube with his viral video clip winning a year long energy drink contract with Who’s Your Daddy, Inc. You can read about that on PepperJam’s Blog.

Scouting the web is also becoming used by companies to scout for talent. The company Digital Media now has employee’s scouting the web looking for the next big talent. Many social sites have emerged in the past months focusing on talent and modeling.
