Google Labs Launches Free 411 Service- More AD Space.

Wow, everyday you just encounter something new. Google announced last Friday it launched its FREE “like†411 service connecting callers with local businesses.

Google’s Voice Local Search does in fact compete against other directories. Although its not your traditional directory service YET, it seems this can pave the way for automated directory assistance online.
To start using Google’s free service, dial 1-800-GOOG-411 (1-800-466-4411) and you will automatically, FREE OF CHARGE, be connected to the business you want to connect with.
We know of “Google Mobileâ€, where you text Google to search phone book listings, movies, etc…But, here is where it gets interesting & competitive for “411†I guess. You do not have to be connected to the internet or call from a mobile phone; ANYONE can call the Google number and connect anywhere.
Google can monetize this of course with how they’ve always made money…ADS. Seems like a great way to place geo-target ads for local businesses when someone from a zip code or looking for a business in a certain area. It hasn’t said yet how they plan to monetize on this but look out for that to be coming soon.
Can we start saying goodbye to our .25 cent calls to 411? Is it still .25 cents?
**Google locates the numbers using Google Maps so make sure to include your business info there!
